Business website design

A new website, a better website, or the one you’ve got sorted out.

I design, build and improve websites for small businesses. That includes working out what the pages need to say, helping with the content and getting the finished site live.
You work directly with me throughout.
Based in Hartlepool. Working across Teesside, the North East and the UK.
Can someone tell what you do?

The business has moved on. Has the website?

You might recognise a few of these.
01

You’re still having to explain everything

People read the website and still ask what you actually do. The answer makes sense when you explain it, but the pages aren’t doing that job.
02

It’s introducing the old version of the business

You offer different services, work with different customers or do better work now. The website hasn’t caught up.
03

Getting in touch is harder than it should be

The contact details are buried, the form asks too much or people can’t tell what happens after they send it.
04

You’re paying for clicks that go nowhere useful

There’s no point paying for clicks if the page people land on is shit at explaining what you do. That page needs attention before you spend more sending people to it.

What actually needs doing?

01

Your first proper website

You need somewhere to explain the business, show your work and give people a way to get in touch. I’ll help work out what belongs on it.
02

A replacement for the current one

Sometimes the old site has had its day.
We’ll look at what’s worth keeping, including useful pages and existing search traffic, before replacing it.
03

Improve what you’ve already got

The whole site might be fine apart from confusing service pages, awkward navigation or a landing page that needs work.
If those changes will do the job, I’ll recommend them. I’m not going to suggest binning a usable website because a new one would be a bigger invoice.

You don’t need to have it all worked out.

Bring what you’ve got: information about the business, existing copy, photos, branding and a rough idea of what needs to change.
I’ll help work out the pages, organise the content and identify what’s missing. Then I’ll design and build the agreed site, including the forms, tracking and functionality we’ve scoped.
If something else is needed, like photography, branding, substantial copywriting or an integration with another system, we’ll make that clear in the quote.

No mystery middle bit.

01

Tell me what’s going on

Share what you need, what you’ve already got and what’s annoying you. I’ll take an initial look and get back to you about the next step.
02

Agree the work

I’ll explain what I recommend, what it costs and what I need from you. We agree that before starting.
03

Plan, design and build

We get the structure and content sorted, then move through design and build. You’ll review the work along the way.
04

Check it and launch

I’ll check the site before it goes live. We’ll also agree what you’ll manage yourself and what support you want afterwards.
Selected work

A few websites I’ve worked on.

Different businesses, different jobs. Here are a few examples.
Trades · Since 2015

Aspire Bathrooms

Website work, refreshes and practical advice on customer reviews, supporting Ste from the business’s early days in 2015.
Charity · Website redesign

Sweetpea Charity

A website redesign with prominent donation calls to action, giving an important part of the charity’s website a clearer place.
Business · 2021 and 2025

RSL Group

A responsive website redesign, landing-page designs for future campaigns and one-to-one sessions to help the team manage the site. Updated again in 2025.

A few practical questions

Most new business website projects start from £2,500.

Smaller improvement projects can cost less. Larger sites, substantial content work, integrations and more complex requirements are priced based on what’s actually needed.

You’ll know what’s included before we start.

Information about your services, customers and business, plus any photos, branding and existing content you have. I’ll help identify the gaps. You’ll need to check that the information is accurate and give feedback on the work.

We’ll agree which parts you want to manage yourself and what you’d rather have help with. That needs to be considered while we plan the site, so the handover matches how you’ll actually use it.

I’ll give you an expected timetable with the proposal. The amount of content we need to prepare, any extra functionality and how quickly you can review the work all affect it.

If you have a launch date in mind, tell me at the start.

We’ll agree the handover and any support you need. Website Care & Support is available for routine maintenance, with higher plans adding time for small changes. Further website improvements and marketing work are agreed separately.

Tell me what you need the website to do.

Already got a website? Send me the link and tell me what needs to change. Starting from scratch? Tell me about the business and what you need.
I’ll take an initial look and get back to you about the next step.
The initial review is free. Any paid work is agreed separately.
