Rebuilding an ecommerce website the owner could actually use.

CatWATCH sells an ultrasonic cat deterrent for use around the home.
The old site was dated, often slow and awkward for the owner to edit. He could change some things himself, but other parts were effectively off limits.
At that point it made more sense to rebuild it properly than keep working around the old setup.
I redesigned and rebuilt the ecommerce site, moved the existing products, customers and orders across, updated the checkout and payments and tightened up the security setup.
The work covered a full redesign and restructure, including how the shop worked on mobile and the route through checkout.
Starting again didn’t mean throwing away years of customer and order data. I moved the existing products, customers and orders into the new shop.
We also moved payments away from WorldPay, which the client felt was costing too much, and switched to WooPayments. I added Wordfence as part of tightening up the security setup.
The old site was dated, slow and difficult for the owner to manage properly.
Instead of trying to patch around those problems again, rebuilding gave us the opportunity to sort the structure, design and editing experience together.
A rebuild shouldn’t mean starting the business history again from zero.
I migrated the existing products, customers and orders so the new shop kept the information the business already relied on.
The client wanted to move away from WorldPay because of the cost, so we switched the shop to WooPayments.
I also added Wordfence and tightened up the security side while rebuilding the site.

The product page was rebuilt as part of the wider shop rather than treated as a standalone design job. The information and buying options needed to be consistent with the rest of the site.
The same information also needed to work properly on a phone rather than simply squeezing the desktop page onto a smaller screen.

The client ended up with a shop that looked more consistent, worked better on a phone and, importantly, was much easier for him to manage himself.
I still host the site today.
Tell me about the business, what you’re trying to do and what’s getting in the way.
